Oral Sedation Instructions
Pre-Sedation
- You must arrange transportation and care: You cannot take a taxi, uber or public transit home. You must have a responsible adult pick you up from your appointment and they must stay with you for the remainder of the day.
- It is imperative that you disclose any and all medication and medical conditions to the doctor and/or our team. Ativan/Triazolam can have adverse interactions with several medications so we must know these prior to your appointment.
- You cannot eat 6 hours prior to your appointment.
- Avoid caffeine as it can negate the effects of the sedation.
- Unless approved by a doctor, do not take anti-depressants or other sedative the morning of the appointment.
Post-Sedation
- You must have a ride for your appointment, they will come up to the office to check-in with the administrator and they will stay with you for the rest of the day. They will need to sign a release form to take you home.
- You cannot drive, make important decisions or operate machinery for 24 hours.
- You will feel tired/fatigued after your appointment, it is ok to take a nap and sleep afterwards. We recommend taking it very easy for the remainder of the day.
- Exercise extreme caution around stairs, steps and ledges as you will have delayed response time and be somewhat unstable on your feet. Your ride must be with you the remainder of the day to help prevent injury.
